Jeff Hanneman (1964 - 2013)
I was fortunate enough to see Slayer live twice. Both times they blew me away and thrashed like no others.
Founding member Jeff Hanneman died earlier today and the news is just terrible.
If you are not familiar, Slayer was one of the first and most influential thrash bands and before their popularity soared were heavily influenced by the earliest black metal artists. They influenced the rise of thrash metal and death metal, pushed the boundaries of obscenity and censorship, and took extreme music to a new level on several occasions. Slayer embodies what it is to be a metal band and that is not up for debate.
Without Slayer, I would not be the musician I am.
Without Slayer, I would not be the person I am.
Rest easy man.
Jeff Hanneman died today. What the fuck.
Rest in peace man, you wrote pretty much all of Slayer’s best songs.
This is the worst :(
Agree. I’m so sad. I’m still processing it.
