Dimebag Darrell Abbott RIP
8 years ago today, on a cold night in Ohio, we lost one of the greatest musicians of our time in an extremely pointless violent attack that left many other great people wounded and 3 other heros killed, all completely innocent. I think back to that night and that year especially when I attended so many different metal shows, meeting so many great people. We were all just kids looking to go out and have a good time and appreciate good music, when one disgusting, sick person caused everything to change.
I still regret not seeing Dimebag play with Damageplan in Sayreville, NJ just one week prior to the shooting in Ohio. I had tickets that night, and was just so tired and had a huge headache, and didn’t want to make the drive. “I’ll catch them next time”. There was not a next time, and I’m sorry that I never got to see you play in person.
I miss you and all of the fantastic music you produced with Pantera, Damageplan, Rebel Meets Rebel, and all of your other projects. I miss your level of guitar playing that nobody else could ever replicate. I know somewhere out there, you, Peter Steele, Cliff, Jimmy, and all of your heros are jamming out some tunes and throwing back the whiskey.
RIP Brother Dime. You have left a legacy and an influence that will never be forgotten and have given me some of the best moments of my life.Dime was Pete’s friend. i’m sure the two of them are partying like rock stars and playing some AMAZING music now. Bless you, Dime, you were His friend. RIP, dude.

8 years ago, this talented mans life was taken away by a senseless act of violence. I’m sure a lot of us have never gotten the chance to see him do what he did best and it’s just not fair. Personally, I would give anything to watch him play just once.
Instead of spending the day hating the person who took his life, along with four others, let’s all remember him by listening to all the amazing music he left us.
R.I.P. Dimebag Darell
You may be gone, but your legacy will live on forever.
Showing some love.
